Content creation for digital agencies has never been so challenging. Agencies produce dozens of blog posts, landing pages, and social media campaigns each week, and yet they need to create authentic brand voices for each client. To help meet this demand, many agencies are now using AI-powered writing tools; however, there is one big risk: the more sophisticated AI detection software becomes (and Google’s algorithm is becoming more sophisticated as well), the more likely an agency will be punished by Google if they create content that sounds like it was written by ChatGPT. This is where AI humanizers fit in. They convert your AI-created drafts into content that passes through most detection systems and still appears as though created by humans.

For agencies, the consequences of being discovered to have created robotic-sounding content could be serious. The loss of client trust and potential lost contract value are just two possible outcomes. Conversely, their competitors are using humanizer tools to expand their ability to provide high-quality content at volume. For the past three months, we tested over thirty different humanizers to determine which would work best for digital agencies generating large volumes of content. Below are our findings.

Why Your Agency Can't Afford to Skip AI Humanization

Agencies risk much more than being detected by software when publishing unhumanized AI content. Agencies will experience the following if they do not follow this step:

  • Your agency will harm your client’s search engine optimization (SEO) due to Google algorithmic penalties; the clients’ search rankings will drop significantly, and all the time and effort put into their SEO will be lost.
  • Trust in the agency by the client will continue to decline as people see more examples of robotic wording or unnatural sentence structure throughout the content.
  • Engagement numbers will suffer as users leave the content because it appears generic and does not elicit an emotional response from them.
  • The competitive advantage of the agency will be lost as other agencies begin to use humanization workflows and produce high-quality content in greater quantities.
  • The resources invested in creating the content will be wasted, as it has to be recreated from the beginning after the detection software identifies and flags an entire batch of content for deletion.

How We Tested These Tools

We conducted this evaluation like most agencies operate, over three months, processing more than 500 articles across a range of industries, including SaaS, healthcare, and eCommerce. After passing all content generated using AI through the humanizer, it was passed through Originality.ai, Turnitin, and GPTZero to see how many times they were able to detect when the AI-generated content had been "humanized."

We measured processing speed, as slow processing speed is an enormous problem in agencies since they cannot have workflow bottlenecks from their tools. We assessed the quality of the output by having our editorial staff evaluate if the humanized content conveyed the same original message as the AI-generated content, but with a natural-sounding voice. We also evaluated the cost structures of each tool to see if they would support an agency's scale (e.g., processing 50,000+ words per week).

Top 7 AI Humanizers That Digital Agencies Actually Use

After extensive testing, these seven platforms stood out for their ability to handle agency workloads while consistently producing content that passes detection software.

Walter AI - Best Overall for Agency-Scale Content Production

Ideal for: Digital agencies creating 50+ pieces of content per week from several client accounts

Walter AI is built to handle the volume of digital agencies produce every day. Walter AI is built using what the company refers to as “Syntactic and Semantic Morphing” to generate completely new versions of AI-generated text while maintaining the essence of the original message. A unique feature of Walter Writes is its three-layer process that breaks down the AI-generated signature, rebuilds it into a pattern similar to natural language, and pre-screens against the most popular detector services in order to provide the end user with the final version of the text.

In our testing, we were able to achieve an average human score of 95% or higher with Walter AI on all of the major detection platforms. An agency we interviewed produces around 70 articles each week and stated that during the 2025 Core Updates to Google Search Results, they did not see any fluctuation in their search results ranking, a claim they directly tie to the humanizing ability of Walter AI. Additionally, Walter AI currently supports over 80 languages, as well as five different tones (Academic, Professional, Casual, Marketing) to allow for flexibility when working with clients who have diverse needs.

The price plan for Walter AI starts at $12.00/month for 30,000 words; $24.00/month for 70,000 words; enterprise pricing is also available based on need and unlimited processing; and a free 300-word trial is provided to test the software with your own content.

Grammarly - Best for Teams Already Using Their Ecosystem

Best For: Businesses currently using Grammarly Business for a grammar and writing check service, seeking an additional tool to enhance the humanization of content.

Grammarly’s Humanizer is also integrated with Grammarly’s current platform, so there is no need for a learning curve; simply have your staff use Grammarly for all of their grammar and style checks (and humanization) through the same interface they are already familiar with. This integration offers the advantage of workflow consolidation—i.e., your writers will be able to write an article using AI tools, humanize it, and edit it—all from one interface without having to toggle back and forth between multiple browser tabs.

However, the disadvantage of this product is that Grammarly is new to the humanization space and did not score exceptionally high on our testing of detection bypassing—averaging about 85% in human scoring—whereas we found many other products to average in the 90–100% range. What Grammarly does offer is a convenient way for businesses to implement humanization throughout their organization while maintaining consistent humanization across all team members who are utilizing the same platforms.

  • Directly integrated with Grammarly Business plans.
  • Suggestions are generated in real time when editing for humanization

Quillbot - Best Budget Option for Smaller Agencies

Suitable For: Smaller teams of boutique agencies that require good-quality humanization at lower costs

Quillbot has been involved in paraphrasing for longer than many other options on this page. The humanizing component of Quillbot utilizes its foundation of experience. This isn’t going to provide the most advanced solution on this list; however, it will get the job done for agencies that have lower-volume needs.

The user interface is very simple and clean, the speed of processing is rapid, and the cost is genuine and realistic for smaller operations. We also found Quillbot was most effective when applied to short-form content such as social media posts and portions of blog content, as opposed to larger-form articles.

Quillbot uses a lighter form of humanization; therefore, you may find that you’ll need to manually edit your work after using it. That being said, for agencies that are simply beginning to implement an AI workflow, it can be an excellent starting point that doesn’t come with an enormous price tag.

  • There is a free tier available to use with limitations
  • The premium tiers begin at approximately $10/month
  • Most effective when working with content less than 1,500 words

Writesonic - Best for Integrated Content Workflows

Best suited to: Content agencies utilizing Writesonic for content development that would like to be able to humanize their generated content seamlessly within the same platform.

Writesonic offers complete end-to-end content development, and they have included a humanizer as part of the workflow so you can create content with their AI, humanize the content, then optimize it for SEO, all from the same interface. This enables an enormous amount of time savings due to the need to utilize only one tool versus working with multiple tools at once.

Their humanization has been very good and consistently tested at 90–92% human in our detection testing. Writesonic also provides bulk processing capabilities, allowing users to batch up multiple articles to be humanized, which is critical for content calendar management across many client accounts. The learning curve will be somewhat longer than some other simple tools; however, the efficiencies achieved by content development agencies developing various forms of content will make it worthwhile.

  • Cost starts around $16/month for an individual user.
  • Agency tier pricing is available for team usage.
  • API access and bulk processing capabilities are available on most agency tiered pricing levels.

Jasper - Best Paraphrasing for Marketing Copy

Best for: Agencies producing conversion-focused marketing content (ads, landing pages, emails). Jasper’s paraphrase generator is an example of how a tool can act as a "humanizer" for shorter-form marketing content, where literally every single word matters. It does not technically brand itself as a "humanizer," but it is extremely good at making marketing copy generated by AI sound more compelling and natural. It understands marketing frameworks and keeps the strategic intent of your copy while changing sentence structure and word choices.

The paraphrasing function was most valuable to us when we were developing ad copy for highly competitive markets — the paraphrasing function allows you to avoid using the generic language that makes your ad copy disappear into the background of generic AI-written ads. We do not find this function useful for longer-form content, and it is generally best for use on content less than 500 words. Pricing is higher since you are paying for the entire platform.

  • Good integration into the marketing workflow.
  • Best used with other content-generating tools within Jasper.

Ahrefs - Best for SEO-Focused Agencies

Best for: Agencies whose main product is search engine rankings, and SEO performance is being actively tracked.

Ahrefs developed its humanizer with the intent of assisting SEO agencies. In terms of preserving keyword density and maintaining semantic relationships within content, Ahrefs’ humanizer will also make structural changes in order to assist in avoiding detection. This is important, as heavy humanizing at times may dilute the SEO potential of previously well-optimized content. Ahrefs maintains a better balance than many of its competitors.

Upon conducting our tests, we have found that the content created using Ahrefs' humanizer retained better keyword placement and topical relevance when compared to all of the other products that we tested. If your agency is charging mainly for SEO results, and your clients are regularly monitoring their search engine ranking positions, the added focus on SEO performance will likely be worth the additional cost of an Ahrefs subscription (which begins at about $99 per month).

  • Integrated into Ahrefs subscriptions.
  • Integrates with Ahrefs SEO research tools.
  • Strongest for content targeting competitive keywords.

Evernote - Best for Documentation and Knowledge Management

Best for: Documenting agencies, as well as client documents, and documenting an organization’s knowledge base.

Evernote’s humanizer was made to help professionals document their work as opposed to using it for promotional (marketing) purposes. As a result, if your agency creates whitepapers, case studies, technical documents, or internal KBs, then Evernote will handle all of these unique challenges associated with this content type better than the tools you would use for blog posts and ad copy.

With Evernote’s organizational system, it is easy to create humanized content, yet still be able to organize and access the content. While we did not find the tool to be as good at rewriting creative marketing copy as other tools, we thought it was great for rewriting content that needs to be written in a clear and professional manner, rather than needing to be written to persuade the reader.

  • Evernote is part of the larger product suite of Evernote.
  • Evernote has strong collaboration and organizational capabilities.
  • Evernote is best for content that places importance on providing information, rather than engaging the reader.

What to Look for When Choosing an AI Humanizer

Choosing the best humanizer for your company is all about aligning the features of the humanizer to the features of your business processes:

  1. Your current integration with your content needs, because moving between two platforms makes it difficult to stay productive, as well as increases your errors.
  2. A bulk processing option that will allow you to process articles in queues of 10, 20, or 50 instead of processing each article individually.
  3. Direct  API access to automate the humanization of your articles and allow you to integrate this capability into your content management systems.
  4. The ability to consistently have your humanizers detect bypasses (for example, "the", "a"), as well as to be able to trust the results based on third-party testing, and not just based on what your vendors tell you.
  5. Ability to customize the voice for your clients' brands, as well as maintain a consistent tone across multiple clients.
  6. Access to responsive customer service and training programs to ensure that your staff has the support they need to become proficient as quickly as possible, without having to spend months getting educated.

Questions Your Agency Should Ask Before Committing

Before committing to a contract with any humanization platform, you should have clarity around the answers to the following questions:

  • If the humanization rates of the detection bypass fail to meet our standards, how will the refunds be handled?
  • Would it be possible to conduct an agency-wide test on our actual client-based content versus generic sample content?
  • Are there APIs available for integration (and what is the cost for programmatic integration)?
  • What is your standard article processing timeframe for articles in the 2,000–3,000-word range?
  • Do you provide agency-specific pricing structures or volume discounts for agencies that process large volumes of work through the system each month?
  • How would you handle updates to the algorithm if the detection algorithms were to change?

Frequently Asked Questions

Most high-quality humanizers are able to handle technical content; however, testing your humanizer with your particular niche would still be recommended. For example, Walter Writes and Writesonic perform extremely well with technical terminology and preserve specialized terms of the domain while altering sentence structures.
Each piece of AI-generated content should go through humanization prior to being published. Even though some content may seem to be written naturally, many AI-generated pieces contain subtle patterns that detection software can pick up. Although there could be some exceptions (very short social media posts under 100 words), each piece of content should be put through humanization prior to publishing.
Humanized content ranks at least equally as well as unhumanized AI-generated content when completed correctly. It is essential to choose tools that preserve semantic relationships and keyword relevance. That is why we highly recommend Ahrefs for any SEO-focused projects.
In blind tests, most readers are unable to identify whether the content was either generated completely by humans or heavily humanized. As stated earlier, the quality gap has shrunk significantly, especially when using top-tier humanizing tools that also alter the structure of sentences and maintain a natural flow.
Whether it is acceptable to use AI as a humanizing tool for client content is based on the client agreement and the level of transparency with the client. Many agencies utilize AI as a drafting tool with human oversight and editing, similar to how writers have utilized research assistants and editors for decades. The most effective method of disclosing to clients is to provide them with a clear explanation of the process.
Paraphrasing involves changing wording while maintaining the same structure. Humanizing is a more in-depth process of creating variability in the sentence length, tone, eliminating robotic patterns, and adding the type of flaws and stylistic variations that typically occur in human-written content.
We begin training our teams by utilizing a pilot project that utilizes one client account. We document the various settings and techniques that worked best for us, then proceed to expand usage of the platform. Most platforms offer tutorials, but I believe that the fastest way to gain experience is through hands-on experimentation with your specific types of content.
Industry standards for transparency regarding the utilization of AI within the content creation process are rapidly evolving toward full disclosure. Many agencies now incorporate language into their contracts that specifies they utilize AI tools as part of the content creation process, and that human oversight and editing occur after the AI has been used. This protects both parties and clearly outlines expectations.
